California is a no-fault divorce state, which simply means, you do not need a reason or “grounds” to obtain a divorce. It doesn’t matter if your spouse is having an affair, has abandoned the marriage, or any other reason. You simply need to state that there are differences that have caused the marriage to break down and those differences cannot be resolved.
